DAY FIVE OF VFW: Pureness of white, perfection of stitches and elegance

Ebra

A uniform of white paraded down the runway to start Day five of Vancouver Fashion Week. Mary Ebra’s unisex collection of minimal cuts displayed developments and experiments of angles and straight lines. Metallic mirrored silver shoes carried in hand further denoted a modern style. A standout look was an almost-invisible sheer round-neck tee, paired with opaque wide leg pants. Translucent layers allowed a view of the interior construction with seams highlighted in white.

Next up, Stepanova, with an array of elegant embellished dresses. Avril Stepanov, hailing from Australia, beautifully combined texture and silhouette with her collection for day 5. Floral appliqué, diamante, and black fringing added exquisite detail to feminine silhouettes with fitted busts and cinched in waistlines. Dusty pink with midnight blue, black and shimmering gold makeup. A slinky cowl neck top was coupled with a full-length flared skirt. Thin spaghetti straps reigned throughout this considered collection.

Shrishti Kaur’s bridal collection exuded elegance and femininity. A strapless boned corseted dress in white with a trailing hemline, worn with a short choppy veil gave a modern twist. White floral embroidery across transparent fabric created an embellished collarbone, white petals almost suspended above the skin. Flared cuff sleeves, A-line cuts, and tightly tailored waists celebrated the female form. The bridal color palette developed into dark blues and deep reds with gold baroque style embroidery.

André experimented with stitches, with the art of sewing and construction featuring across his designs. Contrast black and white theme with tassels, ties, laces, and zips gave way to cross stitch patterns. Asymmetric sleeves, pleated peplum waistlines, and structured zip up tops were worn with needle-sharp stilettos and black masks. A sewing box full of intrigue for André’s newest collection.
