Students of Knightsbridge School International Montenegro from Tivat had their Prom last night.
The evening was filled with plenty of smiles, dancing, singing, taking of photographs…a content that this generation will hold dear and valuable memories of in their hearts.
One of the students celebrated his birthday, so this night had an additional significance to him and his friends from school.
A moving gadget for making videos and photographs along the table that had party glasses, hats, masks, hair accessories and director cut board were put at the entrance of the room.
Prizes, games, quizzes about how well they know their teachers were prepared for students. They voted for their Prom King and Prom Queen. After the Karaoke the best singer was chosen, then the best male dancer and female dancer of the night.
Teacher of PHE & SSEH Paul Brailsford opened the Karaoke. He was also a programme manager. His performance of ,,Gold” was outstanding. He dedicated it to his students.
– You are gold – he said to them.
The organizers of the Prom were students of KSIM Arijana Đokić and Marija Goranović.
– The Prom was my initiate, my great wish for it to happen. Marija and I gave our best to put this idea into reality, because the Prom is one of the most important events in the life of high school students – Đokić emphasized.
The Prom, as she said, is ,,something that we remember dearly and wait for impatiently”
– We wanted to pass on the spirit of the Prom here as well, to our school and make it a tradition that, I hope, future students will continue to carry – Đokić said for MNE magazin.
Organizing this event took more than six months, emphasized Goranović.
– Most of the people do not even realize how many things are there to be organized and how many people from the outside, even cooperation between students and friends this engagement requires. We really had a lot of help from the school and with that support we carried on – said Goranović.
The Head of the Knightsbridge School International Montenegro Rob Ingham told MNE magazin that ,,one of the things that the students are encouraged as much as possible to do is to look for opportunities to connect to what they are historically connected with”
– A lot of our Montenegrin students were being to Elementary school proms, they had seen the proms from their brothers and sisters, so I know these things are important, it is very much a tradition within a country. It is lovely that it came at its core from the students who experienced the proms themselves at their elementary schools, because here they have many nationalities within the same grade. What is great about our school is that it is encouraging students to take leadership – said Ingham with pride of his students.
He absolutely supports students’ initiatives.
– One of the things within the programme the students are doing is Creativity, Activity and Service – the CAS. What is important when the students are applying to the European universities is that they are looking for the ones who have more than just their academic school. The things that sets apart these highly intelligent young Montenegrin women is looking beyond their grades, things that will be important in life. We know that they will be able to organize themselves and their lives. I believe what schools should be trying to do is to prepare their 16, 17 year-old for their future opportunities – said Ingham.
We give you part of the atmosphere from the Prom through the photographs
